To date, around 200 tourism businesses across Europe have been recognised as sustainable tourism businesses. In 2023 ten and in 2024 nine Estonian tourism businesses received the sustainable tourism certificate. Here is their brief introduction.
Matsalu tourism area
- Kodade Holiday Home and Salevere Salumäe Creative Space in the Matsalu region offer nature tourism and accommodation services, event organisation, organisation of creative and developmental camps, and consultation services. Throughout the year, they host birdwatching excursions, hikes, photography courses and boat rides. - Põldotsa farm is a cozy Estonian country home, not a typical tourist farm, which takes you back in time as if you were going to the country with your grandmother and grandfather. The farm is completely different from the usual training places with its inspiring environment, modern nuances in old-fashioned authenticity and kind family. - Alutaguse Hiking Club organises walking, snowshoeing, skiing, scooter trips and foraging hikes primarily in the natural environments of Alutaguse and Lahemaa National Park in Ida-Viru and Lääne-Viru County. In addition, with more than 40 programmes, the club is one of the largest environmental education providers in both Ida-Viru and Lääne-Viru County. The club also organises training courses (eg for hiking guides, hiking coaches, study programme instructors), youth camps, hiking and climbing competitions and the SeiklusFest adventure festival.
