According to the conservation policy of the Endla Nature Reserve, the main goal of the nature reserve is to protect, explore and present the well-preserved Endla mire complex, the karst springs of Pandivere Upland and the biodiversity there. The area of ​​the nature reserve is divided into different zones. There is 1 strict nature reserve (9% of territory), 19 special management zones (65 % of territory) and 8 limited management zones (26% of territory).

On November 5th, the State Forest Management Centre installed a web camera to observe jackal (Canis aureus). The first sighting of a jackal in Estonia was documented here in Matsalu National Park in 2013.

  • Try not to leave traces behind when travelling in the nature and keep the peace here.
  • Ask for permission from the land owner when moving around on marked/fenced private property.
  • Bicycles and motor vehicles are permitted to be used and parked on designated roads and parking lots.

Start and finish according to choice: the trail starts at the Pakumäe parking lot (5.2 km from Vana-Kaiu) when approaching the trail from the direction of Loosalu; approaching the trail from the direction of Paluküla, the beginning of the trail is 3.6 km from the Paluküla bus stop. The vehicle must be left in the parking lot in front of the Hiiemägi Hill.

Length (duration): 7.7 km (4–5 hours).

Designation: trees have colour-markings with the combination of white-red-white on them.

Nature can be enjoyed on the Loosalu-Paluküla nature trail in the Kõnnumaa Landscape Reserve. One of its directions is 7.7 km long. Because the trail is not circular, one has to use the same way for the return trip or have their vehicle driven to the end of the trail beforehand. The mentioned nature trail coincides with the section of Hirvelaane-Kellissaare hiking trail that is 375 km long.
