Protection procedure

The conservation objective of the Nabala-Tuhala Nature Reserve is to protect springs, springy areas and karst formations, including subsurface streams and the hydrological regime of the karst area with the Tuhala Witch’s Well, the area’s bog and forest ecosystems, biodiversity, endangered and rare species, the habitat types specified in Annex I of the Habitats Directive and the species and their habitats specified in Annex II as well as the species and their habitats specified in Annex I of the Birds Directive.
The protected area is divided into six special management zones and two limited management zones.
Any activities taking place in the nature reserve must follow the Nature Conservation Act and the rules of conservation of the Nabala-Tuhala Nature Reserve. The valid rules of conservation of the Nabala-Tuhala Nature Reserve are available in Riigi Teataja (in Estonian). 
All work in the protected area is planned on the basis of the operational action plan – the management plan of the Nabala-Tuhala Nature Reserve 2023–2032 (in Estonian).
