Winter floods in Soomaa have become common in the recent years. The new year 2025, has also started with a flood. This time most of the roads passing through Soomaa are flooded. Currently, only Kõpu-Tõramaa-Jõesuu road is passable. If the roads are closed, there is also no access to most of the hiking trails.

If you still want to explore Soomaa flood, please remember that even if the water on the road seems low, there may be large holes in the flooded road or, in the worst case, the water may have washed away part of the road surface. We recommend coming to Soomaa via Kõpu-Tõramaa-Jõesuu road. Of the visitor attractions, only the Riisa bog study trail is currently accessible, and Ruunaraipe campfire site can be accessed from Ivaski village or from Raba road.

More snow and sleet are expected in the coming days, so it can be expected that the flooding in Soomaa will last longer. We recommend enjoying the beauty of nature sensibly and safely, without taking excessive risks!
