For the visitors

The landscapes of Nõmme-Mustamäe, the slope of Mustamäe, and the sands were formed in the last 12,000 years after the Ice Age. At the foot of the steep slope, more than 20 springs open in spring, the most water-rich of them being the Rõõmuallikas. Different forest communities have developed in the varied landscape – mixed forests, spruce forests, sandy heath forests, and spring fen-carrs, which provide habitats for many species of plants and animals. The preservation of such diverse habitats in urban conditions is remarkable. Of the boulders, two Õpiringi boulders are in the protected area.

In the Glehn Park Forest stands the former residence of Nõmme’s founder, Nikolai von Glehn, known as Glehn Castle, which, along with the sculptures "Kalevipoeg" and "Crocodile", is under heritage protection. The protected area receives a high number of visitors, so movement should be confined to existing roads and trails.
Three campfire sites have been prepared in the protected area.
