KeskkonnaametLahemaa National Park is celebrating its 55th anniversary. Estonia’s oldest national park is marking the occasion by inviting everyone with an interest in nature and heritage to take part in a varied programme of events running from May to August.
Established on 1 June 1971, Lahemaa National Park is one of the finest examples of Estonia’s natural and cultural heritage. Here, the sea, islands and coastline meet forests and bogs, alvars, historic village landscapes and manor ensembles. Alongside its natural values, people have always been central to Lahemaa: a way of life shaped over generations and a long-standing knowledge of how to live in balance with nature.
The anniversary programme includes, among other events, a seminar dedicated to coastal villages and the international conference “National Parks, Communities and Cooperation”, which will bring together both local and international participants. Full programme is available on the Lahemaa 55 webpage.
Everyone is warmly invited to join the anniversary celebrations at Lahemaa National Park.
